CAMERAS HAVE SNAPPED documentary proof of a previously unknown lion population inEthiopia’s Alatash national park, on the boarder with Sudan. with numbers of the big cats in drastic decline across most of Africa, including nearly 75 percent since 1980 in Ethiopia, finding of up 200 lions in the country’s northwest comes as a huge and encouraging discovery for conservationists. what’s more, the lions spotted could be members of a sub-species with only 900 remaining individuals. Now that they’ve been discovered, conservationists can partner with both Ethiopia and Sudanese governments to keep the national park population alive, and growing.
